hi, I'm ryan.

I'm a junior in high school, but I'm graduating a year early.
Anyways, I applied to Dartmouth reg decision, and I recently got a letter from admissions telling me I had a strong application, and that "there wasn't a doubt in their mind that I would be offered admission when decisions are mailed out in April". Is this "unofficial" acceptance common practice? Is it proof-positive I wiil be accepted officially? Has anyone had experience with this or heard about this occuring?

It's common practice at a couple schools, including Dartmouth. I saw a newspaper article or something about it once, google for wink letter. Congrats.

I got the letter as well, and its pretty much a sure acceptance.
Dartmouth is awesome, and as a freshman now, I can't help but stress what a great school it is.

Come to Dimensions! It was the funnest April visitng week/day/trip I had.

a lot occurs in the 3 days you're here. basically, you get to meet other people who also got accepted. you can sit in on classes, eat at our great dining halls for free, go to frat parties, and see the dimensions show, which freshman put on every year for the prospies. the dimensions show is pretty awesome, and for me, it was probably the deciding factor in chosing to go to dartmouth over the other colleges that accepted me.

also, you'll get a chance to talk to current freshman, such as your host, and ask questions about why dartmouth is such an awesome school, foreign study programs, social life, etc.
